External Event: Advancing Research Participation for LGBTQI+ Individuals – OHRP Webinar
Advancing Research Participation for LGBTQI+ Individuals Webinar on Wednesday, October 2, 12 – 2 pm EDT Registration required. Click here to register! Spots are limited! LGBTQI+ communities have historically been underrepresented or misrepresented in research, leading to gaps in data crucial for developing effective health interventions, policies, and resources. Welcoming and supportive research environments as well as research design and methodologies that are inclusive and sensitive to the unique needs and experiences of these populations can address the significant gaps that still exist in research participation among LGBTQI+ individuals. This webinar, jointly sponsored by OHRP and the Sexual & Gender Minority Research Office (SGMRO) at NIH, supports the goal of promoting diversity, inclusivity, and appropriate representation in biomedical and socio-behavioral research to improve health for everyone. Distinguished guests will explore strategies for building trust and encouraging participation, tools for addressing barriers such as stigma, discrimination, and lack of confidentiality, and offer a review of recent recommendations from SACHRP on this topic.
